Safari in Torres del Paine National Park “Looking for the Puma”
Full Day
Trekking
Torres del Paine, Chile
2 pax.
Our main objective is to visualize the most imposing feline in the Andes, so we will travel with our guides who will take us through the territories where the puma usually hunts, feeds and travels its territory, entering the Torres del Paine National Park and its surroundings.
Very early in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Natales or Torres del Paine. The excursion begins at sunrise because the chances of seeing pumas are very early in the morning or at sunset. During the trip, we will provide you with binoculars.
In the “Searching for the Puma” Safari, you will be able to contemplate and photograph the largest and most imposing felines that live in Patagonia in their wild habitat.
Our local guides, specialized in tracking pumas, will take you through the places where these big cats live, looking for signs that the puma may leave in its territories where it usually hunts, feeds, and rests.
Our excursion lasts all day. We travel the roads surrounding the private ranches and also within the Torres del Paine National Park. We will look for the puma very early in the morning, and at midday, when the puma usually rests, we will also take a rest. If you wish, we will visit different viewpoints and photograph the beautiful mountains of Torres del Paine National Park. In the afternoon, we will resume our search, having more chances of photographing more pumas.
The starting time of the “Searching for the Puma” safari will depend on the sunrise, and the end of our safari will be at 7:00 p.m. in Torres del Paine or earlier if you wish.
We will travel through permitted areas with our vehicles, taking short walks, always with the main emphasis on:
• Respecting all the rules and regulations established inside and outside the Torres del Paine National Park to ensure the safety of our clients and the animals.
• Maintaining a safe distance every time we can photograph a puma.
It is a personalized excursion, where the main objective is to enjoy nature and learn from it.
We remind you that animals are wild, especially the puma, who travel long distances every day, so we cannot be sure to see them. But our experience has given us high chances of seeing pumas on our safaris. We will travel through the sectors where they usually move and spend hours observing, thus learning the search technique without altering their environment to achieve our goal.
The characteristic of our company is in our local guides, who have specialized in puma sightings and their behavior in the Torres del Paine National Park and its surroundings, which significantly increases the possibility of seeing them.
At the end of the day, we will return to Puerto Natales, culminating in the incredible experience of having shared a day of Patagonian fauna and landscape.
We recommend more than one day of safari searching for the puma to increase the chances of photographing pumas.
